Back to school

I have officially been in school for 7 days now. It's going alright. Living in the dorms isn't as bad as I thought it would be. However, our floor was fined $100 because some jack-ass puked in the water fountain. It ended up being about $2.37 per person. Seriously, who the fuck does that? As far as the classes go:

• International Business. It sounds interesting. Our instructor is pretty hardcore. He calls everyone Mr. [insert last name here] and Miss. [insert last name here]. I think that this will be my hardest class. Hmmm...
• Contemporary Controversies. I will love this class. Me and Katie are the crazy liberal chicks. This ought to be good.
• World Religions. I hate this class with a passion. We are supposed to have an open mind and learn about other religions but the lady who teaches this class is a freaking moron. On our 2nd day she made a circle on the board and started putting the different world religions inside the circle saying that they all fell into the "god circle". Ummm...not all religions believe in god. I swear, if she pulls this shit again I will punch her. She is on my beat down list.
• Comparative Political Systems. Awesome. I love Dr. Reigg. We have a non-trad (non traditional student) who is kind of annoying but I can tolerate it.
• Human Geography. I get to sit next to all of my friends. We watched "Who Killed the Electric Car" the other day. That was a good movie.

Labor Day weekend. I'm working the whole time. Ugh...

Goals and Wine

So after a very tumultuous few months at home my mom made me make out a list of goals, both long term and short term. I hope that it will be fairly effective. I typed them out one boring, rainy day at work and then laminated them. Not that anyone reading this actually cares but here it goes:

1. Learn Chinese. It will be valuable to me in a foreign relations related career and would give me a leg up in the job market. I will accomplish this by doing well in my Chinese classes and going on a language emersion trip to China.
2. Get a 3.2-3.4 GPA this semester. I need a high GPA to be on student government, it will make me proud of myself and my parents proud of me and it will bring my cumulative GPA up so I can get into grad school. The hard part will be actually doing it since I haven't had a 3.4 since Sophomore year of High School. I can accomplish this by not having cable in my dorm room, not watching tv during the week, only working on weekend and spending a crapload of time in the library.
3. Graduate in 2010. I will graduate with a lot of my friends, the 5 year plan is completely normal, I won't feel like a loser and I will only be 22 when I graduate. I will do it by keeping a high GPA, not failing anymore classes, doing especially good in Chinese and Math. I despise math.
4. Live in Washington D.C. I love D.C. There are so many cool things to do there and there is a very diverse population. There would be a lot of opportunities to work for the government or an NGO on the international level.
5. Go to China next summer on language emersion trip. Will help me with Chinese, I will get college credit and it is an AMAZING experience. I can do it if I do well in Chinese and save some benjamins.
6. Save $ for travel. I love to travel. I really want to go to China, New Orleans, Africa, Atlanta, New York, Boston and India. I can do it if I put money out of each paycheck into my savings account and stop buying useless crap (Gossip Girl season 1 on DVD).
7. Start buying Christmas Presents early. This will make me resist the temptation to overspend on people and I will get it out of the way. I've already made a list of what everyone is getting and I've already bought the presents for 2 out of my 3 best friends! Plus, I get a 50% discount on wine. So everyone will probably get a bottle of wine.
8. Build up credit rating. Mine currently sucks and someday I will want to buy a new car (Prius!) and eventually a house. I can do it by keeping my checking account balanced and I could get a credit card and just put my gas on it. It would be easy to pay off every month and it will build up my credit. Plus I will keep making my regular car payment.
9. Become a size 5/6. I will feel better and look better. Plus, I can share clothes with my mom! I can do it if I exercise, eat better, snack healthier, get regular sleep, drink more water and eat out less. Easier said than done.
10. Pay off Sheila (my car, not female bookie). I have to pay her off and it will build up my credit. I can do it if I just keep making my payments. $120 a month isn't bad.

So anyway, thats it. If you could keep giving me encouragement I would appreciate it. Now it's off to bed for me. I have bronchitis and have taken too much cough medicine with codine.

P.S. Working in a wine store has turned me into a wino. I used to be a beer and vodka girl. Hmmm...

The Chicas

Seriously, why are some guys such ass bags?

My friends and I from High School referred to our little group and "The Chicas". Even though I haven't seen most of them in years I still love them all. We're all growing up and it is blowing my mind. Some are doing pretty normal. One is married with a really cute baby boy. Another is in a fairly stable relationship and leading a fairly normal existance at good all FHSU. One of the Chicas is getting back on the right track and going back to school. Another is just being all normal with the exception of getting her tonsils taken out. I couldn't be more proud of those four.

Then there are the fuckups. The 3 that are just being crazy bitches with guy issues.

• Someone had a boyfriend wanted her to fuck him in the ass. Seriously, ewww...


• One recently had a long-time boyfriend tell her that he had a wife and 1 year-old daughter and he was leaving her for them. Ultimate ass-face.


• Finally, the youngest chica has never actually been in a serious relationship and is a dirty mistress. Long story involving a friend lying to her so that he could get in her pants before he moved to a foreign country and then actually moving to Utah to be with his wife of apparently a couple years. Ummm...yeah. The thing that bothers her is that he knew her well enough to know that she would never do that if she knew that he was married. Even if it was just a green card marriage and supposedly didn't mean anything. The worst part is that she had to find out from someone else.

I miss my chicas so much!!! I hope that sometime we can actually all get together and have a big group hug and a drunken, loud conversation at Taco Shop followed by Cervs and a snowball.

Seriously, whatever happened to Supermarket Sweep? What an original concept that was. Forget Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, this is a true game show. For those of you who don't remember what it was all about (by the way, shame on you!) here is the rundown of Supermarket Sweep:

• The game was played between three teams of two related individuals, such as a parent and child, spouses, siblings, or best friends. In the last two rounds, the team members wore sweatshirts of the same color.




• First came the question round. The question round was divided into 3 sub rounds. One player from each team played, then their partner went and the last sub round was a round robin with all of the players.



• Some of the questions were:Guessing which item a series of interesting facts had described, guessing which item went with a particular slogan or jingle, determining the brand name of a product, the picture of which had the brand name edited out and filling in the blanks to reveal a product's name; contestants were either given the clues and/or the letters that were progressively added.



• The next round was the most important round. THE BIG SWEEP! THE BIG SWEEP was the chance for the teams to run throughout the aisles and to grab whatever they could off of the supermarket shelves. The clock was set to the highest time that was earned by the three teams. The runner for that team was sent out into the market, with the other runners entering when their time had remained on the clock. The only rules were each team could only take up to 5 of the same item, any items that were dropped and/or knocked over had to be put back on the shelf or in one's cart and only one member of each team had to be in the store at a time. The other team member was required to remain at the checkout counter to unload the groceries.



• The team with the highest grand total, including bonuses from the question round, won cash in the amount of their Sweep total and a chance to play in the Bonus Sweep.



• The Bonus Sweep: The winning team was given 60 seconds to find three products in the market. They were given a clue to the first product, after which the time started. The second clue was affixed to the first product, and the third clue was on the second product. If the team found the third product, they won $5,000.

So remember kids: The next time you're at the checkout counter and you hear a beep, think of all the fun you could be having on SUPERMARKET SWEEP!!!!!!!!!
